Thank you for visiting my 'Women of Steel' website. My first involvement with Sheffield's Women of Steel was way back in 2009 when I was asked to write a song with songwriter and producer Eliot Kennedy and singer songwriter John Parr for the campaign to raise £150,000 to build a statue in Sheffield City Centre to honour the ladies who worked in the steel industry in South Yorkshire during WWII. The concert, in November 2009,  raised over £50,000 on the night and eventually, enough money was raised to enable the statue to be commissioned.

Internationally acclaimed artist Martin Jennings, who also produced the much loved statue of John Betjeman at St Pancras station in London created the statue which now proudly stands outside Sheffield City Hall.
